Florida Trucker Hats

Florida does not really have four seasons. It has a warm season and a hot season, and for most of the year the question about a hat is a simple one: will you still be wearing it at two in the afternoon? That is the whole reason the trucker hat became the unofficial Florida hat. It is a fifty-year-old design that has not needed improving. We are careful about what we claim. These are mesh trucker hats with a Florida patch. We do not advertise UV ratings, waterproofing or technical fabrics, because we would rather tell you plainly what a hat is than dress it up. What we will say is that these are the hats we wear ourselves, on our own water, in our own trucks.

A hat you keep fiddling with is a hat you will stop wearing. Set the snapback once so the band sits comfortably without pinching, then leave it alone. Trucker hats settle after a couple of weeks of real use and start to feel like yours.

Brim shape is personal, but most people who spend time looking at water end up curving it. A curved brim cuts side glare and keeps the horizon clear when you are watching for movement on the flats. Care is simple and boring: rinse in cool fresh water when you rinse the boat, then air dry out of direct sun on something roughly head-shaped. Skip the hot dryer, which is what warps front panels and shrinks bands.
